Big Bang Fair – CREST Project Success

On Thursday 15th March, Minjae (Yr 10) presented his CREST project, entitled “Biofuels”, at a local Big Bang Fair held at Herts & Essex High School in Bishops Stortford.

There were about 20 groups of students, from Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 4, presenting projects on a variety of topics, including Robotics, Building Bridges, Chemical Reactions and Taste Buds.

Minjae was assisted by Oliver (Yr 10) and Emma (Yr 9), both of whom have also done CREST projects (Oliver is still working on his Silver award, Emma successfully completed a Bronze award when she was in Year 8)

Many hundreds of visitors visited Minjae’s stand and were very impressed with his work.

The judges selected a few groups to take their presentations to the Regional Heats for the National Big Bang Fair and Minjae’s was successfully selected to progress to the next round.  The judges were most impressed by his enthusiasm in communicating his work.

The regional heat will be held on 5th July at the University of Hertfordshire, in Hatfield. At that stage, there is the opportunity of winning a cash prize for the individual students and also for the school that they are representing!
