23 Feb Junior Sports reports for the week
U9 Netball V Dame Bradbury (Away)
The under 9 girls had their very first experience of a netball match, playing away at Dame Bradbury School. The conditions for playing were tough, with the girls facing persistent rain and cold temperatures. Despite this, the under 9 girls demonstrated excellent resilience through the duration of the match. Well done to all who played.
U11 Netball V Gosfield (Home)
The under 11 netball team had a home match against Gosfield School. The girls were very excited about the match. The performance of the girls was excellent – they demonstrated skillful moving, defending and passing. The score at the end was a very close 2-1 to Gosfield. The CIS girls can hold their heads high and be very proud of their performance.
U9 Football V Dame Bradbury (Away)
Our Year 3/4 boys had their first taste of competitive football on Tuesday. Playing against a more experienced team in wet and cold conditions meant it was hard for our boys to show off their skills. However, despite the conditions and score line, the boys were incredibly resilient and made good use of the experience. In the lesson following the match, the boys demonstrated this experience brilliantly. They made excellent use of the spaces on the pitch and were passing the ball nicely. Good progress boys. Keep going!
U11 Football V Gosfield (Home)
The U11 football team hosted Gosfield School for a fantastic football match on Wednesday. Both teams played some lovely football, passing the ball really well. It was great to see the CIS boys continue to develop, having played a few fixtures. They are really starting to gel as a team and had some excellent link and positional play. The boys also displayed some fantastic qualities of sportsmanship, support, resilience and determination. Well done boys – a well deserved victory!
U11 CSSP Tag Rugby (Shelford)
On Thursday, the U11s took on other schools in the Cambridge School Sports Partnership at TAG rugby.
Out of 12 other schools we finished a really respectable 5th. The team managed to win 3 of their 5 matches but, most importantly, played really good rugby, supporting runners and timing passes beautifully. The atmosphere of respect towards each other, the opposition and referees was exemplary and a credit to the school.
