12 Jan Organic Chemistry
Year 11 have been learning about Organic Chemistry for the last 2 weeks and this week they were experimenting with three carboxylic acids. Even though they are weak acids, and don’t fully ionise, they still have a low pH, release Hydrogen gas when added to metals, release CO2 when added to carbonates and neutralise bases, making salts in the process.
Question: What are the common names of methanoic acid and ethanoic acid? Answers to Mr Bennett or Mrs Lobo-Clarke please.
