Thwarting of Baron Bolligrew

The Senior Drama Students gave an amazing performance on Tuesday evening of the Thwarting of Baron Bolligrew by Robert Bolt.

The 16 Drama Club members, from years 7 – 10, have been working on the productionfor the last four months and were thrilled to have the opportunity to perform in front of family, friends and staff at The Temple.

The story, told expertly by James, is a tale of long ago, when dragons were still common. The Duke, confidently played by Maxime, and his Knights, having slain the last dragon in the Dukedom, are looking forward to a nice period of inactivity. Sir Oblong Fitz Oblong, brilliantly played by Ruby, however, declares they must go elsewhere to do further good works. To avoid this, he is sent on a one-man mission to overcome the dragon in the Bolligrew Islands. There he meets the wicked 15th Baron, cleverly portrayed by Charlie, and his blundering Squire Blackheart and others. After passing through many fantastic adventures, he at last encounters the Dragon.

The Art Department have also been involved in the production and have made the most amazingcostumes and props.  Notably the dragon’s lair and a wonderfully vivid selection of dragon’s tails.

The production has been directed by Mrs. Caroline Waite, and she has commented “We began rehearsing in February during lunchtime and after-school and I have been so impressed with every student’s commitment and determination to the project.  It has been incredibly rewarding to see how the students’ confidence has grown over the past four months and everyone involved, both cast and crew alike, should all be very proud of what they have achieved.”

Many congratulations to everyone involved in such a professional and enjoyable production.
